Regular
Soccer
practices: Weekdays, 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM (except game days - no practices)
Team Photographs:
This year's team photographs are scheduled for
after school on Wednesday, Sept. 26th at the LHS turf field.
Please wear your white uniforms for this photo-shoot. *** Also
if you take photographs of the matches that turn out well, please
email them to
Sherm and they may be added to the website-depending on space on
the server. ***
Parent Volunteers:
The LHS girls soccer team needs players and parents to
help get the team moving this year. We will need some team
parents to help organize and coordinate activities like
poster-making. We will also need players to recruit new players
to the try-outs and even bring their friends who have never played
soccer, but are interested in being a part of something challenging and
fun.
FIFA's Women's World Cup China 2007: The
US women's national team took third place in the FIFA Women's World
Cup. Here is a link to the match
highlights.

Coach Daghan (Dagi) Kesim
is the new Lynnwood HS girls soccer coach -Dagi was a professional soccer
player in Europe until a knee injury cut his career short. After several
operations, he decided to coach and also go to college in the U.S. He
has spent the last 8 years coaching in the US and has been coaching at
local area high schools. He was previously the Lynnwood boy's soccer
coach and the assistant coach for the Meadowdale Girls. He is also the
current boy's head coach for Cascade High School. He has also been
training local teams in the area as well as players on a private basis.
He has been training players from such teams as Crossfire, Mukilteo
Select, Northwest Nationals, Silver Lake, Evergreen Academy, Emerald
City, and Snohomish United.
In his career of private training, he has helped 19
players earn scholarships for colleges around the country and has
recently started scouting for some colleges. He finished 3rd in the
state last year with his underdog team, Cascade High School. He was
chosen the coach of the year for 2007 for HS sports. He was also voted
one of the best trainers in the state by a couple of soccer websites. He
is also going to help a local college team with their set plays.
He was born and raised in Istanbul Turkey and currently
resides in Washington with his wife and 2 small children. If you
have any questions or need to notify Dagi about a team matter or
question, you can email him at
Dagi.
Everyone welcomes Dagi and is excited about the upcoming season!

Edmonds School District Athletic Forms:
The Lynnwood High School office opens on Monday,
August 13th for players to turn in their athletic participation
paperwork. Please note that the LHS athletic participation packet
shows that a physical exam is good for 13 calendar months.
Some parents have checked with the school district and have found that
the exams are good for 2 years. So far it is unknown if this 13
calendar month requirement is only for LHS athletes or if it is some
kind of miscommunication from the LHS Athletic office.
Attention Parents: If your daughter is intending
to play in high school sports this fall, they must attend at least
10 approved practices before playing in their first match.
This is an Edmonds School District policy based on a WIAA statewide
policy. Please check with your local school district to determine
what their requirements are. What this means is that your daughter
will need to attend practice everyday during the 3rd and 4th week of
August to play in the first match, which is usually scheduled for the
first day or second day of school. Here is a
link to the
Edmonds School District Athletic Participation Forms.
Eligibility:
Students planning to participate in any interscholastic
or activities program should review the information listed below and
contact the ASB secretary, their coach or advisor regarding the specific
process for their sport/activity.
Eligibility update: According to Lynnwood High School
Athletic Director Rob McMains, a Sport Physical is good for 2 years.
So if an athlete gets a physical
on August 30, 2007, it would be
good until August 29, 2009. The only exception to this is walk-in
clinics. Most walk-in clinic physicals are only good for
1 year.

Fan etiquette
at games: Dagi asks that parents and
fans watching the LHS soccer matches refrain from "coaching" from the
stands and sidelines. He is teaching the girls European-style
soccer which means that they will be doing things differently than they
have ever done on any other team. So, Dagi is asking that parents,
players, and fans not shout out instructions of any kind to the
players (Not even "Go to the ball!"). Thanks.
Please send comments or questions to
Dan
or Sherm.
Thanks!
